Our History
Who We Are
The Thrift Credit Union is a not-for-profit organization, serving railroad employees and their families since 1928. We return members' earnings through higher dividend rates on savings and lower interest rates on loans.
Our History
The Thrift Credit Union was originally chartered in 1928 to serve the Atlanta office employees of Southern Railway.
For the first several decades, the credit union's office was located in Terminal Station, one of the main railroad passenger stations located in downtown Atlanta.
As the years passed, membership expanded to include all employees of Norfolk Southern and their families.
The original goal of the credit union was to promote savings and the wise use of credit. While those goals remain a cornerstone of our purpose, services offered by the credit union have expanded to provide many of the current financial needs of members. The credit union strives to promote thrift by encouraging members to exercise care and wisdom in the management of one's financial resources, thus leading to increased prosperity.
